My take on Volvos of that era is that they were driven by pretentious college professors who didn't opt for a Saab. This 1995 Volvo T-5R sedan came in any color you desired as long as it was "T-5R Yellow", also called Gul Yellow. This luxury sedan was powered by a 2.3 liter turbocharged 20 valve 5 (yes, 5) cylinder engine coupled to a stick operated 4 speed automatic transmission. With 240 HP, it did 0-60 in 6.7 seconds which doesn't seem like much by today's standards, but, then, the identical time was matched by the '77 Ferrari 308GTB!!! Only a few hundred reached the States and didn't sell well so many wound up as corporate cars. Here's an expert from Car and Driver:
"Mated to a slick-shifting electronic four-speed automatic (the only transmission offered), our T-5R wagon scorched to 60 mph in just 6.7 seconds—three-tenths quicker than our last 850 Turbo wagon. [...] This would be blistering speed for any car—let alone one capable of ferrying the entire family to a pancake supper."
I don't have any Volvos in my collection, but do wish I'd added the wagon version. Looks like a typically great AA model. I do believe that these were also available in black, not just yellow.
@gavin From what I've read, the T-5R only came in T-5R Yellow.
The 1995 T5-R came in black or yellow. The later 850R (1996) also came in red.

Many years ago, I almost purchased this only because it was a great looking four-door. I learned all that I know about this car from Rich's post.
@gavin I read two sites claiming 607 Yellow was only on the T-5R. On further research, it seems they are wrong. Not only did they also come in black, but also in Dark Green. Thanks for the heads up, Gavin.
Glad to help, Rich. Killer car & model, no matter what color.
I always saw this one at my brick and mortar Prestige Hobbies in Buena Park California.
Never bought it because it was never on sale. I just couldn't afford it as it was always over $200
And we're talking in the late 90s early 2000s. And yes it was yellow. I lusted after it because it was a beautiful sedan with 4 opening doors.
