So you guys excited about the Precision Miniatures 1956 New Yorker St Regis thats being released by Acme in December. This is the PM tooling that was bought by Greenlight but apparently guilded by Acme since they are rolling it out. I didn't want to get in trouble for posting the flyer that was emailed this morning but Im sure you will see the info everywhere in the next couple days.
I will add one to my old Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth section of my collection for sure.

(PICS) Here's some pics of 1/18 prototypes and pre-production samples. Years ago I was contacted...
...by the owner of these samples to "finish them up." I didn't have the heart to mess with them; all the while hoping, of course, that someday these just might be manufactured. Apparently that day has come. I can't wait to add these (hardtop & convertible) to my collection! Although I'm not sure if/when the convertible will be produced.
As you know, there's really no QUALITY mid-50's 1/18 Chryslers out there. That 1/18 Signature 1955 Imperial is OK but WAY under-scaled and the 1/18 Maisto 1956 300 is really a toy (and also under-scaled). Then there's Motormax's 1/8 1955 Chrysler 300 which, again, is OK... but a bit "clunky."
So...auh...YES John, I'm excited!

That pink/black/white version I would add in a heartbeat. I need to see what other color combos they did as I might have to wait. Even though the current sample pic with red looks nice Im not the biggest fan of it.

This is terrific news ! The '56 Chrysler St. Regis will make an outstanding 1/18th addition. It would be great to display it alongside my elegant Signature '55 Imperial and cool Maisto '56 300 B.

Yes, I had always hoped DM would do a 1/24 from their 300 tooling but they never did. Would take this in 1/18.

Chris - excellent pics & even better story...
...but wouldn't you consider the Chrysler 300 from ERTL Precision 100 to be high quality? I like it but am not expert enough about it that I could comment on scale or authenticity but to the untrained eye it looks pretty sharp.
Maybe the distinction is you're considering 1957 late 50's not mid...

Yes Rusty it IS an interesting story & there's more to it but I offered the ....
...condensed version. Also, I have more pics somewhere; when I find them I'll post ASAP. I seem to recall that in addition to those beautiful wire wheels, PM tooled up (and chromed) full stock wheelcovers (I must find those pics!)
Lastly, IMO, that "Ertl 100" 1/18 1957 Chrysler 300 is an excellent model with better than average detail and...AND...it's in scale. But as you noted, I consider that "late '50s" rather that "mid '50s."
One could also categorize it (based on Chrysler's 1950's ads campaigns) "The Million Dollar Look" vs "The Forward Look." (..although in '56 Chrysler Corp. started using "the forward look" phrase in their ads but the "true" F L really started with the 1957 line up...oh those fins!).

I have the Maisto 300B in red. Imo, it is a well done model. Affordable, too.
It's actually more accurate than the DM 1:24, which I have. DM didn't quite get the angle of the rear taillights right on the 1:24 300B. Still, it's a beautiful model. They hit a home run with the DeSotos, though, esp. the Fireflite Sportsman coupe.
