With Ford's ubiquitous Fox Platform set to retire after 1993, Ford's "Special Vehicle Team" created this 'last hurrah' Mustang Cobra 5.0 SVT Hatchback. Wringing the last ounce of power from that venerable cast iron Windsor V8, it now offered 235 Hp and 280 lb/ft of torque due to GT40 heads, larger fuel injectors, and aluminum intake and hotter cam. A first for the Mustang included 17" wheels and rear disc brakes. It's handling also received suspension upgrades. It was pretty peppy with a 0-60 in 5.9 sec and a 1/4 mile in 14.5 sec. This rare model here replicated with optional rear defroster and Opal Gray leather interior, is perhaps the most desirable of the 3rd generation Mustang with low mileage cars approaching 7 figures.
I have only owned (2) real Mustangs in my life. Both red, both 5.0 and one a convertible. Now after seeing this, I need to track down one lol..

...my best friend of 47 years - who passed away @ 61 back in May, owned about 250 Mustangs throughout his life. I have yet to buy one but that may change soon - as NEW American convertibles are all but extinct. Mustang may be my only option; I do not want a Vette.
- But I do have about 25 in my scale collection - representing each generation, except the most recent. I'm waiting for a full-function diecast. 🙄
Good luck in your quest to track this 1:1 down!

Is that right? You got me on this one - I had no idea, wow! Great info & pics Rich, as always! - I didn't know those were 17" rims, but that explains why they always looked a bit different. 🤔
A beautifully done diecast model here with exceptional details. Really well done and gorgeous in jet black.
