One of 92 built for 1967, the R-Code 427 Fairlane 500, although rated at 425 HP @ 5600 rpm, easily produced 500 HP was lighter and more powerful than than the Plymouth and Dodge Hemis with a 12 second 1/4 mile vs a little over 13 seconds for the MOPARS. It was also available with the W-Code 427 with a single 4 bbl. It came only with a 4 speed manual with heavy duty clutch and a 9" rear typically with 3.89.1 gears. Built for drag AND street, you could also rule the boulevard. Here's the bone stock monster in Wimbledon White with magnetic affixed dog dish hubcaps.
The good old days when the auto makers actually tried to outdo each other and build performance cars all up and down their car lines. Who built this model?
"Who built this model?"
It was released by GMP many years ago. It offers exceptional detail, including working roll-up windows, it's very heavy, and scale fidelity is quite good. New liveries & styles are now available through ACME. In all, there's probably somewhere north of 50 different versions of this very nice Ford Fairlane.
Mine is "bone stock" finished in a beautiful green.
@chris I love the first of the series, the red 390 GT which production ended after the first run as a lot of collectors swore bucket seats were standard on the GT. As it turned out, the bench seats were actually a correct possibility. This was the only '67 in the series that actually had pneumatic tires which made it look more real with a larger footprint, but it also gave the model a realistic bounce!
@chris I have the green one as well. These models weigh a bunch and worth every pound.
Man, those all look fantastic. I have this one by 1st Gear in 1/25 scale, but it looks just fine in my 1/24 collection. Mine has the 2 4bbl setup on it.😊
