Update V.......Exoto Jaguar D Type replacement.......
The RF rotor problem......Jack K. from Dubai replied not to try to turn it because it is normal it is seized. So why are the three other rotors spinning free?
Anyway, I fixed it. I also ordered some other replacement parts because they broke or they don't fit properly.
This model is very fragile with a very high level of complexity and only dedicated modelers will be able to fix it from time to time because some parts will definitely pop out. Its called " put in its own display case and never touch again".
Overall, the model is a big investment and also a big disappointment. It is designed to be displayed as non- assembled; The frame, the front and rear body sections.
Any attempt to put everything together and stay in a single piece is at your own risk.
The rear portion of the body is so heavy no matter there is a good amount of resin parts in its assembly that it will not stay in place. The rear body section is "locked" by only two tiny pins in the headrest that has to be installed at last when you believe the rear body section is secured on its very tiny anchors. This operation may be catastrophic with serious consequences.
This is a major engineering flaw for a model of this caliber.
The front body section......as per the instructions booklet, you have to "close" the locks on each side of the hood to secure to the mid section of the body. The anchors are so tiny and almost impossible for the locks to go in. the only way for the front bonnet to stay close is with the magnet on the leather straps.
The tonneau cover is supposed to be magnetic to stay in place. Well, the rivets of the cover or what? It not holding it.
Overall, if you prefer to display this model "assembled", there is one thing to do.
It is my last post about my experience with Exoto. I received a replacement. I suppose I should be happy.
