It's the roof-line. It's the rear split-window. It's the hidden gas cap. It's the taillights. It's the grille. It's the side trim. It's the two-tone paint scheme. It's the dashboard. It's the engine. It's a 1:18 scale diecast.
IT'S AN OLDSMOBILE!

Are the quality of these 1:18 models commissioned by Danbury Mint equal to what their 1:24 used to be? Are they higher quality than most other (affordable) 1:18's?

The short answer: "Yes." This particular 1/18 '57 Olds is a Highway 61 replica. It's fair to say that ALL HW61 1/18 models have "above average" features, such as: scale hinges, fully opening panels and working fold-downs, nicely applied trim & scripts, overall decent detail, etc...
It's also fair to say that unless this specific DM color (yellow/white) is a "must have," one could probably find HW 61 '57 Oldsmobiles (in a variety of color schemes) on secondary markets for a bit less.
Marty, I'm always so happy to see your posts. They are so infrequent and missed. You should join in more. LOVE the '57 Oldsmobile you shared, the color pops it. Feel free to send it to home address.
Hope you are doing well my friend, it's been a while since we chatted.

These are spectacular 1/18 '57 Olds Super 88's from Highway 61/Danbury Mint. Beautiful colors, too ! I had to get 3 colors of the H61 coupes and 2 colors of the Yat Ming top down convertibles, because this is such an irresistible Fifties Oldsmobile.
