The curiously named Alfa Romeo Montreal, built between 1970 and 1977 was never allowed in North America due to emissions issues so why even give an Italian car a French-Canadian name? The 2+2 touring car was designed by Marcello Gandini of Bertone and was powered by a 2.6 liter V8 with SPICA mechanical fuel injection and was rated at 197 HP. It was coupled to a 5 speed ZF gearbox. It has retractable slatted 'gills' covering the quad headlamps with a large NACA scoop on the hood. Released just in time for the oil crises of the 1970s, it did not sell well with only 3925 sold. With its high revving V8 and rarity, it's market value today can hit up to $120,000. A rare black model driven by Charlize Theron was featured in "Atomic Blonde".

Wasn't the prototype first shown at Expo '67 in Montreal?
@paul-rouffa It debuted in 1967 as an unnamed concept at the Montreal Expo... which also explains the name. Good one, Paul!
One of my favorite Alfas. I seem to recall buying this model after seeing your review of it some years ago.
Nice car. I did see this one in white, I think near the entrance to Expo 67 when I visited that year. I remember being quite impressed. It likely was changed slightly from this prototype for 1970. I believe there was another somewhat different Alfa Romeo also exhibited. Unfortunately, I cannot find my Kodak slides that I took at Expo 67 of these.
I visited Montreal and Expo 67 for four days back then supervising about 35 grade eight students bunking just off site.
