A "TUESDAY TWO-FER"
Of the plethora of Brochures that landed in my Mail Box from the various Mints, there were some that simply jolted me with an excitement that defies description. These were TWO of them! At a time in automotive history when "Planned Obsolescence" was par for the course, STUDEBAKER delivered us a car that utilized a tried and true body design that looked completely NEW in '57. And it resembled no other car on the road. It was a Classic Styling that portrayed a Sports Car look and a conversation starter where ever you drove it. And this Brochure was the "Mother Load" of Brochures that introduced a 1:24 scale diecast model that even if you didn't particularly care for the car and its styling, it was an immediate "Must Have" for your collection in the incredible "Two-Tone" color scheme of TIARA GOLD and ARCTIC WHITE. It sure was for mine!

I'm sorry I missed that white repaint. It's prettier and better detailed .
Great post today George. I am later than normal checking in today and I wasn't sure what my Daily Dose would be, so you and John settled it for me.
I remember when the gold version arrived as a Preview Society item, I was blown away by the total look of this model. I have always been a huge fan of this design, the Golden Hawks, Silver Hawks and the later GT Hawks have always been so intriguing. I just can't get enough of them when I see them at shows, thankfully there are always several to marvel over.

George: It is funny, I read John's post first about the white Stude, and now read yours on both. I agree with John the design is just amazing and was also intrigued when the first gold one came out. The wings just make me think of my Dad's 57 T-bird and it is funny that both came out the same year.
Have both, love both. I never pass up the opportunity to add another Studebaker to my collection no matter the scale.
After I made my "I'VE GOT MAIL" post this morning I decided to go to my car room and look at both Studebaker's...and they seemed even more beautiful than I attempted to describe them in the post. I'd say they certainly rank among Danbury Mint's best 1:24's.

Looking at my Golden Hawk now, and was wondering if this was the first DM car with an opening fuel filler door. Anyone know?
