In my constant search for Bugatti model types, I once again had to go the the realm of $12 Bburagos. The Type 55 was light and powerful, powered by a small displacement 2.3 liter supercharged DOHC 8 cylinder engine that produced 180 hp. It was the road-going version of their record setting Type 51 Grand Prix car. 14 of these roadsters with bodies designed in-house by Jean Bugatti were built and only 11 of them with original coachwork still exist. Besides the over wide wheels and tires, the bones of this car were faithfully reproduced. I used painted paper tape for the door armrests, painted a faux wood burl dash and punched out butyrate "glass" for the gauges from a shirt color stay. I also painted the two pieces of luggage in the trunk and probably other things.

Yep, Bburago's and some Maisto's, may not have the 'precision' that we expected from DM & FM, but they have the stance and fidelity to the 1:1's most often than not. GREAT job on the dash!

Wonderful upgrade on this Bburago Rich. It looked fairly primitive before your efforts but now looks very collectible.
