That Ford was the first car my father had that I remember. He had bought a similar Mercury right after he got home from WWll, but it was soon totaled by a trolley car in NYC. ( I never got the whole story on that incident )

How cool Rich. My dad had one too; in gray. My brother (14 years my senior) was given the use of it for a date. We shared a bedroom; I was about 4 or 5 at the time. He came home and woke me up to tell me that he tore the rear fender off in an accident. (I'll never forget that next morning!!
)
@perrone1 So, it's two of us old guys reminiscing about anecdotes from our youth. I love it! We might as well get it out there before we forget them completely. LOL

"two old guys reminiscing about our youth"
if diecastdotorg doesn`t currently have a motto,this would do nicely.....Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm?
Thanks for the stellar set of `47s today Tony......the big burgundy tudor (?) strikes me as most reminiscent of the period.
Some of my favorites too. Have the Ford and hope to land the other 2 one day.
You guys think you're old? 1947 was the first year that I started collecting model cars. I was seven and my dad took me to the new car dealers where I discovered promo models for the first time. From then on I was on the hunt for model cars and at the end of the model year dad would take me to see the new cars and I would see if they had any promos they were willing to get rid of as they were then outdated. By the time I was fourteen I had a collection of over 200 models. When I was in my early twenties I was busy with carving out a career and the models were no longer as important to me and I gave them to a friend for his two boys. I've often wondered if his boys ever became as serious as I was about cars of all scales.

Nice tale Bob. And you're still only a young fella!
@bob-jackman I'm not bragging; I'm complaining! LOL
Thanks for the reminder, Big Guy. I think I'll make another cup before I slump over my keyboard.

Since I'm up every day at 4:30 for my daily workout, it's NOW about time for my first
I thought about this......considered it thoughtfully,and added another nap to my already fully-napped-out day
