300 of these beauties were produced in 1947 and only somewhere between 7 and 13 are still known to exist (the Buick Club says '7')
. That year Buick shipped the chassis, cowl and floor pan to the Hercules Buggy Company in Evansville, Indiana where the solid wood bodies were made using maple and mahogany panels along with the leather and Bedford Cord upholstered seats. The car weighs 4400 lbs and is a whopping 217" in length.
A friend has a 51 Super woody wagon. The body on his was built by Ionia. I'm wondering when the change was made from Hercules?
The color on this beautiful model is perfect IMO.

I'm just amazed that a company with "Buggy" in the name survived until 1947. LOL
A real holy grail model for me.
Model perfection!

One of Danbury Mint's most spectacular models. Great photos! And thanks for the back story on the car.
