The GT-R is supposed to be at 80K.............

and from what I read is a far superior machine than everything manufactured and designed in USA.

Do you really believe that the mark up will be up to 50%?

Jerry and Dan

AMC did purchase one of the GM motors, kept it, revamped it, and then, after a few years, sold it back to GM. I just wish I could remember which motor it was. Jerry mentioned the 231cu from GM and that could be the one. I know it wasn't the 235. Don't even remember if anyone made a 235. I know Chrysler made the 225 "slant six", which was one hell of a motor. As for the comments about "ham fisted" mechanics, that could very well be but I do know they had signifigant problems with that V6 and overheating problems. I do believe that part of the problem was that these weren't "cast aluminum", thereby being "soft". Somebody has to remember which motor GM sold to AMC and then bought back!

Yes, I'm sure now that the 65 Buick Skylark had a 231 c.i. 60 degree V6....

It wasn't the smoothest runner but if you had a manual tranny, you could set the idle rippems +100 and it smoothed out very nicely..... 'Lil bugger had a lot of low end torque.... but ran out of breath at about 4500 rpms. I could take the V8s of that day off the line in first gear but she went flat when I shifted into 2nd.... I won more $10 bets with that car because noone believed it was a V6 until they counted the spark plug wires. HeHeHe
I sure would love to have a 1:24 model of the '65 Skylark, PLEASE.....

GM sold the 235 Cu In GMC V-6 to AMC they sold it back to GM, the aluminum V-8 went to Rover and

Powered everything from cars to their line of Land Rovers. The GMC V-6 was a Boat Anchor. I frankly don't remember seeing it in a AMC car but AMC did buy it and sell it back.
Ford eventually wound up with the 215 Cu In V-8 when they acquired the Land Rover. Big Deal!

She flew to Seattle looking for you! She's easy to spot...

... she's Taiwanese, very tiny @ 5' 4", except when she's pissed off. Then, she looks like 7.0' Shaq, in a very bad mood.

Jerry-Thanks for the Info and David

And yes, I'm sure you did win a few ten spots. I knew if anybody knew about this motor, it would be you David. Thanks for the answers. I just couldn't remember which motor it was but I knew GM had sold a motor to AMC and then bought it back. Still haven't forgotten about the pictures you owe me either.(Packard and T-Bird)
