1956 was the midway design in the evolving "Forward Look" of Chrysler's line up that would culminate with a straight line from a low front end to high tail fins. This '56 DeSoto Fireflite sedan still had a vestige of pontoon rear fenders that would be completely gone the following year. The Fireflite sedan, although close to DeSoto's entry level models still had lots of chromed trim including a chromed 'visor' trim above the windscreen with tutone paint options available. I like this promo reissue of a family sedan because we mostly get tudor hardtops. I painted the hood badge and tail lamp assembly, blackwashed the grill, BMF'd the trim and, because the scripts were too fine for BMF, I used silver foil on them. I added dual exhausts from polished aluminum tubing for kicks and quit. It's of course a 1/25 model but it displays OK with the 1/24s. About 15 or 20 years ago, someone got the old Johann tooling and re-released a could of 4 door promos in very limited runs. I managed to get a 4 door '56 Pontiac Chieftain hardtop also. If you haven't seen that one, let me know and I'll post it.
@rich-sufficool I remember seeing your earlier post on the Pontiac Rich. Your detailing is a home run.
remarkable! Your BMF work is outstanding, thanks Rich
Both models are awesome, but the DeSoto really does it for me.
