Nice pair of Beetles John. I have a fairly decent collection of 1:43 VWs, from the split window thru '70 Bugs, Kombis and vans, Karmann Ghias, 1600 series in various body styles, 411 and more. I get great pleasure from this marque.

Nice pictures as usual John. I especially like the white sedan. I don't know how you could possibly see behind you with that high folded top stack on the convertible.
A little story...
One Friday morning in the summer of 1964 my dad left for work in his '60 Chevy Biscayne and came home with a new Volkswagen, black with red interior. So, what's the first thing you do when you get a new car? You take a road trip, of course! Our trip was a two-hour drive up to Santa Barbara from our home in the suburbs of Los Angeles. With parents up front and two nine-year-olds and one six-year-old in the back seat, the trip was great, at least to me, riding in the new car. On Monday morning my dad left for work in the new black VW but came home with his old Biscayne. My mom, puzzled, asked my dad where the new car was. He said he got his old car back because he didn't feel comfortable driving a car where his knuckles rubbed against the windshield!

LOL. I'm thinking he may have thought the "knuckle clearance" approach was more palatable to his missus than saying he found the VW, loaded up with family, to be kind of gutless on the highway.

Well, my dad did have big hands and played basketball in his youth, but you're probably right. With a whopping 40hp the loaded Bug was no match for the 6cyl Biscayne!
