An outstanding model from my collection. Issued in 2001, this is one of those models that you can't believe until you hold it in your hands. While updating my collection in hobbyDB, I discovered that my photos weren't represented well. I pulled some old photos from my database and did some updates. Here's some of those shots.

Those pics bring out the abundant trim details well John but I have to be honest and say that this is my least favorite Mercury design ever made.  I just could never warm up to it all these years.

John, great pics of an outstanding model.  Unlike Jack, I have warmed up to it.

The car was completely radical among its rivals, and certainly never had an identity problem.  When you saw it, you knew what it was.  That alone makes it unique.  It was identifiable even by folks that didn't know any other car on the road.  It made people think of the future with all of its many gimmicks (i.e. the rear power window, etc.) and if you saw one, you needed to get close for a look.

Was it the worst styling ever?  I don't think so, as there are many other cars that turned our heads in a disappointing way.  In today's collector world, would I rather have a mundane Chevy or Ford from the fifties, or the attention getting '57 Mercury?  The Mercury please!  We've seen '57 Chevy's and '59 Cadillac's to the point of nauseam.

And as a 1:24 scale model, it was (in my opinion) a "must have".  It tells car history.

Hi John,

Are the skirts removable because one side of your pic has a skirt on it and the other one doesn't. I was just asking maybe they're magnetic I don't know I do not own this model.

Thanks, Steve
