You can just picture some eastern European monarch and his queen in the back waving to the peasants along the road in this 1926 Mercedes 630 Model K (the merger with Benz was in the works). This dual cowl phaeton Model K was a blend of luxury and performance should they have to speed away from a Serbian Black Hand assassin. Built on a shortened wheel base ( 'K'= 'Kurz' or 'short', it sported a supercharged 6.2 liter 6 that produced 140 HP but could easily be bumped to 160. The sumptuous interior had leather upholstery with colorful abstract patterned textile inserts and side map holders. The Model K was only produced from 1926 to 1927. I believe this body was built in 1928 by Jacques Saoutchik and recently sold for $973,500. This an older Franklin Mint model that, despite its old tech, makes a nice presentation.
That's a pretty snazzy ride.💯😎
This is indeed the Saoutchik model and a beautiful example of it too! It's incredibly modern for its time, with its integral trunk.
Not in my Collecting wheelhouse. But a very nice image.
