Oh I know we are somewhat on the same side...

...I just can't help but be jealous that you can get my stuff without my overhead. As you know it's not supposed to be that way. But I'm more ok with it than you might think as well. I just wish you understood my position better.

Wow...what is this...group therapy??? Grin

I buy DM very often as well...

maybe a dozen images this year but some of them many times..and in my opinion the degree of difficulty that DM goes for does lead to more problems than the more simplified toolings of TFM. It's a classic give-and-take situation.

Right On Bob. FM still holds a 53% to 47% lead in my garage

Out of 106 items over eleven years only 5 have gone back to DM

I used to buy all my FM from the Gallery stores and it took awhile to find a good one. I have been lucky recently with no returns to FM. Tinderbox issues have all been superb. Only one problem with Vickis 61 Continental and we all know about that one. Generally speaking FM has improved their quality.
One minor exception is forgetting the Chrysler badge on the front of the blue T&C. That was unforgiveable and should be replaced. I can't see why you have had such bad luck with DM this year.

Over 1,000 TFM items sold last 12 months and only 1 sent back to me ...and that was a black Rally GTO that the doors actually fit pretty well on compared to the worse ones but was rejected anyway. No problem with that! Smile
I have replaced one '58 Corvette, one 2004 Convertible (mirror decal came off) and have a '32 Ford Duece Coupe coming back as an option because of a weak hinge.

1/10th of 1 percent! Wow. Of the 1000 FM items how many were diecast car models?.

Bob, when you say "the competion's fussy little cars"

Certainly you cannot be referring to the Danbury mint. I have over 60 D.M cars in my collection, never having to send one back for any reason.... When a company produces a low-tech diecast toy, like The Franklin Mint, and then charges 20% more than a company that produces a true miniature car, you have to expect some people to speak their mind. randy may and richard dube, come and get me!

Paul, Here is an example of what I am talking about...

I recently bought the "Pillsbury" version of DM's Model A
Ford panel van. By the way this model cost me $151.10.
The first one came with a hole in the rubber running
board cover. There was no way I could fix this so I
ordered another one. When the second one came the
outside rearview mirror was almost broken off, so
instead of another trip to the post office, I changed the
doors. I removed both doors, switched them and
returned the double defective car and kept the good
one. I should really get better service than this as I am a
good customer and do pay my bills.

about 990

I should say that I sent back 18-20 in that time...technically that should be added in. Still pretty good %.

I JUST received DM's 1969 BOSS today ...nice image but one of the little pony logos popped out and an undercarraige item was loose. I was able to fix both very purely but sometimes little details like that create bigger problems than they are worth.

If some of you folks are satisfyed with low-tech toys thats fine.

But some of us demand higher quality and realism from our diecast cars. Thats all.

Bob, I wouldn't trade off my FM Packards for anything.

I do like recent offerings from DM, such as the '50 Studebaker and the '48 Buick, but I have a mixture of both Mint offerings and do not favor one mint over the other. I don't see a nickle's worth of difference in quality between a FM '40 Ford pickup or a DM '38 or '42 Ford Pickup. I like pickups. The FM Bentley-Franay and MG-TC are another pair they'll never get away from me.

For me it is subject matter that counts. The DM '48 Buick is so outstanding I would get it even if I didn't like the period. My DM blue '53 Buick Skylark is of older technology but I'm not about to throw it away, it's still a great image.

There's still plenty of room for both mints and anyone else who can produce a museum quality diecast. Just wish they'd do a few more Buicks with their toothy grins.
