I got permission to show one of the prototypes of the Automodello 1954 Buick Skylark convertible. The next step will be preproduction hand-builts but these prototypes are darned close for prime time. Other colors to come.

To me this car just does not look right with those wide fender wells, it just looks out of proportion.  Not one that I will get.  IMO.

A beauty to be sure Rick!  But WOW, I actually broke this news yesterday here on the Forum before you did, as I had pre-ordered not only this Matador Red model, but also the Arctic White version and the Ledo Green one.  I'm now eagerly waiting for them to be added to my collection.  THANKS for sharing the photos!

But it's those "wide fender wells" that were the draw to the '54 Skylark.  A rare car that I'm excited to be adding to my parking lot soon.

@georgeschire George, I've been sitting on these images for months. The only reason I was allowed to post "just one color" is because YOU let the cat out of the bag on the Lounge. There'll be more (IMHO) prettier colors to be posted as I get permission.

I might buy one of these depending on the colors offered.  I already have the 53 in Blue and the LE in red so definitely not the red one.    I have on preorder the Graham Shark nose.  Anyone else adding that one ????  Neat looking odd ball car!

Hi Phil, as mentioned in my response to Georges original post I have ordered the Lido Green Buick. If you're also referring to adding the shark nose Graham I've asked about its progress a couple of times. Still in the works. I reckon the Graham will be popular like other Automodello 30s American cars have been. Notably the Cord, I saw one sell for over $500 a few months back.

Hey Rich,

My sincere apologies if I shouldn't have said anything about the '54 Skylark.  I wasn't aware that it may be a secret.  I was though, on their website and the cars were available for pre-order, and with all three colors available to do so.  I hadn't seen any mention of Automodello doing this car until Bob Jackman commented that he'd ran into someone from the company and was able to pre-order the Ledo Green version of the car.  I then went to their website, and there they all were.  I'm sorry if I shouldn't have posted the news here.

I pre-ordered the Lido Green version.  Really looking forward to it.  I have the Automodello Riviera and Eldorado, both are excellent.

Rich, I met with Jim Cowen in Chicago and he had the prototypes on display. That's when I placed my order.

@georgeschire Au contraire, mon ami. If Jim's showing it and you see it, report it. I just do the photography for him and he tells me when I can post the pics. I'd love to show them as soon as I take them. No apologies are due me, sir.
