Introduced in 1939 with production ending in 1940, this Audi 920 Cabriolet was very economic to produce but curtailed by the war, only 1281 were ever produced with the bulk (1085) made in 1939. It got production help from other divisions of Auto Union. From Horch, they took its 8 cylinder and cutting 2 cylinders off to yield a 70 HP straight 6. Wanderer contributed the running gear and bodywork. The luxury 4 seater was capable of 80 mph through its 4 speed transmission. The interior was all leather with wood trim and the cost in 1939 was 7600 Reichsmarks or $3400. The line was never continued after the war with Audi focusing on more economic cars.
Great read, pics and model Rich. I don't think there's an economically priced Audi anymore. At least in the U.S. I think the A3 is considered the cheapest, but at nearly 40 grand, that's still a lot. At least for me, lol.😁
I don't have this model but I do have the CMC Wanderer which like all CMC models is pure perfection. Thanks for the pictures and writeup Rich.
beautiful model and pics, thanks Rich. Have a look at that interior? Those leather seats! To pinch our friend Bobs line...have it love it!
