Always outside my budget until today. A while ago Chav posted in the Lounge how prices have dropped. Normally I just skip by models I already own, but since Chavs post I've been checking more closely. And wow! It seems that other than the very last releases of high quality DMs, prices are really down. Too many examples to list but worth checking if you're looking to fill holes in your collection.
Congratulations. It's always exciting to find something one wants at a decent price. It looks fabulous, especially in the beautiful green. But - excuse my being dense - what is it? It looks like a '50 Mercury to me, but the wing-line at the side says not.
Ahah ! I remember discussing this model on the site before and was told it is a classic of the genre. I seem to remember price came up then, so congratulations on getting this one. It's a real beaut'.
@charles-rockett Charles, the Hirohata Mercury is probably one of the 10 most famous and respected American customs. The custom and hot-rod American car culture was completely new to me till 10-12 years ago when I re-immersed in the world on automotive miniatures. My appreciation for this form of automotive art gradually evolved to the point that nowadays I even love rat-rods.

Thank you Geoff, I continue to see and get better deals, and if you account for inflation, these models are getting cheaper and cheaper. Sellers who liquidate collections are eager to sell at lower prices. Notice if American sellers are more willing to ship to Australia, that would be another indication they are willing to take higher risk to make a buck. I continue to believe we are and going to stay in buyers market for few years due to deterioration of consumer's confidence and discretionary spending. Then perhaps the prices may come back up. Some manufacturers may go out of business similar to DM and FM in the years after the GFC.
