For 1957 and the first 3 months of 1958 (as the 2nd gen square birds were late coming off the line). the Thunderbird was further refined. It sported a larger grill, larger fins and tail lamps and the spare tire was back in the trunk mounted vertically by moving the gas tank off center. This Bird had the potential to be wickedly fast with the optional Thunderbird 312 Y-block V8 E-Code with 2X4 bbls at 270 HP or it could could be McCulloch-Paxton supercharged to either 300 or an incredible 340 HP. The transmission options were a 3 speed Ford-O-Matic or 3 speed manual with overdrive. It makes me wonder if ,because of its light weight, it wasn't the fastest production car that year. I know they were run on the Salt Flats that year but I had no idea they could be that powerful right out of the showroom. I love Danbury Mint's choice of Dusk Pink for this convertible. This was right in the middle of of the promotion of pink in the fashion industry where it was touted for men. I was proud to wear my pink shirt with charcoal accents to school thinking I looked pretty hip (or as my mother would say, "It's the cat's pajamas!") LOL The last pic I shot with two characters from "American Graffiti". It just seemed apropos.

This T-Bird was awesome; the pink shown was a great looking color but my fave was the light blue or the copper shades. The figures shown look awesome!

@jack-dodds I did no touchups to those 1/24 figures. They came packaged with the movie's '58 Impala in 1/64 scale.

Exceptional as always Rich. I love the '57, I goofed not getting this one. I was waiting for a repaint.😟

One I was able to buy direct from our short lived Melbourne suburban diecast retailer. Color is just so different to all other 1/24s of the period. Thanks Rich

I have this model, and had wished that they would do one in all Black as this is the color of the one in our family. My younger brother now has it in his garage.

I am a T-Bird nut and have every scale models of T-Birds except the white DM Square Bird.
I did not buy this pink 1957 when it was first offered, something funky about the whitewalls and wheels. The 1955 and 1956 models looked spot on, yet the scale of the tires and wheels on the 1957 just didn't look correct. Was hoping for another 1957 Bird but that didn't happen.
Years passed, I did buy the 1957 DM model, on Ebay. I have bought a box full of other models wheels and tires, perhaps I will be able to change the tires and wheels on the DM model to be more correct.
This 1957 pink T-Bird is very personal to me. I was age six, a neighbor lady would occasionally drive me to school in her new pink 1957 Bird. I remember that car vividly, and the red haired attractive women. Unfortunately, Dad had an affair with her, and other ladies, parents divorced. After the divorce, perhaps that is why Mom bought a new 1960 T-Bird convertible.
Regardless, a pink 1957 T-Bird is very important in my diecast collection.

@abaucom The ‘57 Bird is one of my favorite models Rich, a must have for sure! I remember when I finally got it and first saw it in person how cool the color was. I know the color can vary model to model but mine looked more like a pale lavender than an actual pink, whatever, I love it. I have a hard time picking my favorite bird from between this one and the ‘Thunderbird Blue’ ‘55. Great photos as always, thanks for sharing.
