@geno Me too Geno. May I suggest this Stamp recent 1/43 issue? I have it (pic 1&2 as I'm a stripes guy) and it's sensational!
@kevins It was technically street legal in that you could drive it home after a day at the track, but with only 36 made for homologation, I don't think it was a true sports car.
@kevins It's like the 300SL v the SLR. The car was not driver friendly with no speedometer and flimsy cloth seats as well as an overheating problem when driven at city speeds. It was considered street legal more as a technicality being an offshoot of the 250 GT and it's street legal variants. In actuality, it was a pure race car, not a sports car.
@rich-sufficool Not driver friendly with no speedometer and flimsy cloth seats as well as an overheating problem… pretty well sums up my 1963 Rambler 550!
Love it but Porsche 911, Jaguar E Type, Lamborghini Maura and McLaren F1were also strong contenders. For looks alone, I go with the Jaguar E -Type, innovation, the 300SL.
Exceptional choices David. I especially agree with E-Type for best looks.
I'd like to throw two other important names for consideration into the ring.
For street and track importance, Shelby's Cobra 427 S/C Roadster. A REAL 1966, below:
And for the enormous impact it made in races and as a street & show car, 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO:
I think I’d have died and gone to Heaven if I had a chance to wash and polish a 250GTO

Hey now ...just a bleating minute here pal; we're 250 strong.....you stay away with that bucket of foamy water! You may get your trip to heaven yet!
@100ford2003 Actually yes I have as I was raised on a farm and we always had a brace of goats on a very long movable tether, mowing the field one day at a time. And yes they don't smell exactly exotic wet or dry....but I do love their feta cheese. Lol.
Well I certainly wouldn’t expect the ‘exotic’ that I wish to lather up to have any smell at all.
Steve
Nice but no cee-gar. I’m talkin bout that roja two-seater in previous pic. My fav Poncho GTO is the ‘69.
