A while back Pete Rovero posted some pictures of the DM Thunderbird Sports Roadsters he repainted in original 1/1 colors. One of the  colors he did was Castillian Gold which is the color of my 1/1 63 Roadster. I made the comment at the time if he ever decided to sell that model I would be interested. Some time later Pete contacted me to say that he was willing to sell the model. Long story short, the model arrived today and it is an absolute work of art. I've seen some very talented people in this hobby but none any better than Pete and the job he did on this model. The real icing on the cake is that he is a pleasure to deal with.

Thanks Jack. I was surprised that Pete would sell the model but am glad he did. The pictures he posted on the forum were good but the model is magnificent in hand.

What a wonderful model. I've seen Pete's photos and having an example of his "works-of-art" is an honor.

@bob-jackman Bob it is great that you were able to get the model to match your 1:1, but since it has been awhile since had posted photos, could you post some to remind us as to how well his workmanship is.

John, I plan to take some pictures of my 1/1 and the model together and will email them to someone who knows how to post. My 1/1 is presently torn down as I am doing a complete brake job and tune up. As soon as I get the brake booster back from the rebuilder I will take the pictures. In the meantime perhaps Pete will see this post and repost his pictures.

John, my 1/1 is a 63 unfortunately DM never got around to doing the 63. In 62 the color was called Castillian Gold. When I went to buy the paint for my car I asked for Champaigne and was told that there wasn't such a color. After some research I learned that Castillian Gold and Champaigne were one in the same...the things you learn when you restore a car. My car has always been a southern car and as such is a totally rust free car having never seen salt. I bought the car from a young man who worked for me whose Grand Father gave him the car and it has only 53,000 miles to this day. What color was the interior of you Caspian Blue convertible?

JB that's a  62 in the picture. The 63 Had a sculpture line on the front fender that extended into the door. I love that shade of blue...very rich IMO.
