DM 66 Mossport Hood
Has anyone had any problems with the hood on the 66 Mossport corvette hood, mine buckled up and when I tried to raise it after seeing it wasn't closed it broke the corner off and the hood looks vary dull and wavey. Thanksphoto no longer available

Plastics and resins are more affected by heat than diecast and.......
perhaps this model has been displayed close to a window or a heat register.
Although it's probably too late now, since it's broken, I've had good luck over the years reshaping warped plastics and resins by dipping the part(s) in boiling water and then carefully bending the part back to shape and letting it cool in that shape (speeding up the cooling sometimes in cool water.
I've used this method sucessfully on both mildly warped promos (acetate plastic) and resin models.
In some cases where the original plastic or resin has cured or cooled too rapidly when removed from the mold, the material hasn't had time to anneal (relax) and maintains internal stresses which cause it to warp over time.

Cliff it has always been in a case out of the sun and been warm, the hood was buckled and brittle.

Cliff i think your confusing this with the FM version which IS resin/plastic this is the DM version which is diecast. I owned this model and it suffered badly fronm diecast degradation as well! my drivers door warped and when i tried to open it it broke right off. also my hood was badly warped and the fenders were blistering badly. I called DM about this about 2 years ago and while they couldnt replace it SOLD OUT they DID issue me credit on my account for what I paid for this and sent me a post paid label to send it back. SAD as i loved this model

Can these diecast actually degrade like that?
or was the issue on just this one particular Corvette?

I guess they can it was in a case with the mint model 67 silverphoto no longer available
and the marina blue 67 and they are fine. One of those things I guess so check yours

I think I will send it to Bosscos Garage to have it looked at to see if they can fix it, it was number 25 so its one of the first ones to be sent out.
