Nobody does truck models like the Danbury Mint... or should I say "did". When each new truck model came out, I usually opted for the Coca-Cola variant. That monster COE GMC was such a fantastic model with all those little cases of Coke. The myriad of details and operating panels gave the model so many display options and finger fun... and the livery was eye-popping. One of George B.'s auctions offered up the GMC Budweiser stake truck variant. It was going so darned cheap I jumped on it and was delighted I did.. With all the bells and whistles of the Coke truck an real wood stakes, the Bud livery was outstanding. With demise of DM's diecast division, I'm also glad I took the plunge. It's unlikely we'll ever see truck models like this in our scale again.
Rich I agree with your comments. Being from St. Louis and living across the road from Grants Farm and the home of August Busch , I jumped all over the Budweiser trucks when they were introduced.
@bob-jackman Growing up, I was always fascinated by the huge, gorgeous lit-up Budweiser sign on their big plant in Newark, NJ across from the airport. It goes through different symbols ending with the huge flying eagle. It's still there and still brewing
.
I agree on the detail on the DM trucks, I purchased every one that I could.
Way back when my job required me to be all over the country, I remember flying into Newark and seeing that sign Rich. What always impressed me was how immaculate the inside of the brewery was and the polished brass fittings on all of the various vats. Thanks for the picture.
@bob-jackman You're right. The place is always immaculate. They've always encouraged visitors and would promote school, church and scout field trips.
great pics all round gentlemen, thanks
