The Art Deco phantom Duesenberg Coupe Simone which took the designs of the famous French coach builders to another level of flamboyance. The Hollywood celebs of the late 30s would kill to cruise Sunset Blvd in this baby. He made up the coach builders  Emmitt & Armand and designed their heraldic logo. What a guy!

@bob-jackman It always has made me envision this car as something made to be driven by Batman's "Joker" with both the color scheme and that big smiling grill.

As to which model car engenders the most interest. There's only one model that my wife showed any interest in. Born and raised in communist Poland, she was unaffected by the car culture. It basically means nothing to her. Yet the one model she actually loves is.... the Saoutchik Cadillac. Perhaps because Saoutchik was Polish born? She sure didn't know that.

@rich-sufficool Saoutchick was Ukrainian who immigrated from Belarus. 2 weeks ago we had a big thread in the 1/43 forum on the pronunciation of his name. His original name was Yakiv Savchouk (Якiв Савчук).

@lu ... and after Raffi and Roger brilliance, Richard's pictures were the best marketing strategy.

Where are the headlights though?

A wonderful fantasy by Raffi and Roger, but this model has become the bain of my existence. I run a concept car/coachbuilt group on the Social-Media-That-Must-Not-Be-Named and I've lost track of how many times pix of it have been posted claiming it's a real car. Of course, it doesn't help that a VERY well done website outlining a detailed "history" of the car was created many years ago (you all know the one) and continues to fool people to this day.

This model is not only the longest but by far the heaviest.

Rich, If your wife likes only one car, she shows good taste in her pick.

@chav I never did look at his place of birth vis a vis the national borders at the time of his birth. Especially after WWll all the borders moved west with Germany the loser. In bios, his listed country of origin seems to vary.

BTW: I like your old picture so much better. This one looks like a mug shot of an Albanian mafioso. (no offense). J/K

@monteverde802 Raffi also created an entire back story for the car. Many thought it was provenance rather than fiction.

@chav I always assumed they were behind the grill but maybe it's like the Esders Bugatti.

@rich-sufficool Ha, ha, I liked the old picture better too. Few weeks ago my daughter saw my other picture and said that I do not look myself and she started looking for a better one offering me similar to the Albanian mafioso mug shot most of which I didn't like ... I think she is use to see me smiling... Anyway the change was not really intentional. Again few weeks ago I was trying to change my avatar and it didn't work, apparently my replacement test picture got uploaded after all and just showed up now. I guess the developers are fixing the avatar issue in the background, but only partially as my picture on the member list is still the old one. I see John Merritt @jcarnutz had the same upgrade, let me alert JK here: @jkuvakas

@rich-sufficool Yeah, Rich. I remember that. The website I mentioned was based on that information but was greatly expanded and had extensive graphics. If I didn't know the true origins of the car, it might have even fooled me at first.

@chav Raffi replies:

"You are correct - they are behind the headlights. This is often asked as well as how do you change a front tire, but the skirt is removable. Another question comes up asking about how you can see out of that rear window and that it might be too high on the body. It's high for sure, but you need that height to see out the upper part of the trunk line."

Here are my reliable sources (confirmed by my Albanian intelligence connections)

#1.

#2. Ukrainian video, the narrator states that Saoutchick was born in Ukrainian-Jewish family in a town presently located in Belarus (you will have to trust my Ukrainian translation skills).

#3. Vlad from Ukraine .... not Vlad Tenev from Bulgaria

Saoutchick
