Gents, concerning the Automodello Lincoln, perhaps Mr. Cowen or Raffi could chime in here on the reasoning behind the screws and lack of undercarriage detail.
Sorry, but I'm sitting in my office, looking at the Lincoln on display next to my D4C Lincoln convertible. The Automodello has been removed from the box and just sitting there. I don't see the screw holes and certainly don't see the undercarriage. I've sat here giving it a pretty good once over trying to detect those holes and lack of undercarriage detail. Don't see it.
As for the holes, I may take a black marker and "color" the white to black. Maybe. I really don't have an issue with the detail underneath. Quite frankly, the detail topside more than makes up for the other "stuff".
Smaller screws? Maybe. But remember, this is resin - not metal. I have to believe that this was all considered before moving forward.
Sorry, no disappointment here. I've got much bigger fish to fry on a Friday night.
Like, will my Flyers beat Florida tomorrow night?

I'm loving seeing them do so well. Their game against Stanford last night was outstanding! I think they can take Florida, and no matter how it turns out, I'll be watching!

For me the chassis details are adequate for static model and the...
... holes don't bother me too much. Yes they are ugly, but it is a trade off for safe shipping. I do not own the Lincoln and do not plan to buy it, but I am awaiting anxiously the Cord, Auburn and Duesenberg, and of course the Delahaye... and Delage.
And people should stop complaining about the prices. If Automodello was making too much money, there would have been 10 other Automodello's by now.

Dan, we actually live in Englewood. It's just easier to say Dayton. Most people know where Dayton is. Crossing my fingers tonight. Florida is tough for sure, but on any given day.....

With Regard to this Subject and Others
Rick is correct as far as his observations, as are the observations of other members of this board,some of which I agree with and some not. I have no interest in these Automodello creations, at the current or future price points. I have and am investing my dollars in houses, of which I now gave two. However, my hat is off to Jim and his crew who took a risk and brought these creations to this board, and anyone else for that matter. But lamenting over it, as we seem to do, changes nothing. With that said, I do notice that others are slowly beginning to explore the other images being produced by other manufacturers in scales ranging from 1/23, 1/27, 1/31, 1/36, 1/38. I have some of these varied scale and I do say that they are very close to 1/24 and the later to 1/43, with varying levels of quality and price. I must say that there are some very nice images out there that are as good as any, for display and to be displayed with the die cast we have. I point these things out simply because it is time to move on. DM and FM are gone and will not be back. It does appear that other manufacturers are "picking up the gauntlet" slowly. I don't see any of them giving us our precision die cast however, simply because the demand is not there and they are all doing just fine as they are. Moreover, at the price point precision die cast would have to be($300+), why would they. As has been said, it is time to explore new things and see what else is out there and at what price points.
In keeping with this line of thought, it is also time to mention about our OS for our PC/Laptops. XP IS GOING TO BE GONE and woe be to anyone who continues with it. I have the new Windows 8 and, with a little getting used to, it comes out fine. I have a PC and this system is really more for a laptop but works just fine and sells almost as well as Windows 7 did when it was introduced. Under no circumstance does anyone want Windows Vista, in any version. Worst system I ever had and spent more money getting it debugged than any other of the systems I had. IN the meantime, enjoy, explore, and expand your horizons.
