Eloy, I'm the soul who onws the "horror story" on the 1/18 forum. Now, about this Vette...........
1) I thought these were actually fiberglass models, not diecast. Am I wrong?
2) That eBay seller claims "heat & humidity" must have gotten to it. Well, I can tell you that if this model is diecast, heat & humidity have nothing to do with it.
It's poor, sub-standard, metal composition that's to blame.

I had a DM '66 mosport green conv vette. I think its mostly metal.
I know the hood lid wasn't metal and many had trouble with the lid falling apart too, but i never imagined the metal will fail too. I sold it since I didn't like it as much.

This is not a new story, there's been about 12 of us that have had one problem or another with these. I was lucky mine was only the hood and I bought one from another member to repair mine that had other issues. I bought a second for extra parts alsophoto no longer available

DM has never made a fiberglass model. &
the hoods on these Vettes were diecast as well. I owned one of these.

Michael you are right, my hood kicked side ways and when I pulled it up with my fingernail off the corner came. My hood was replaced with another metal one.

FM...
FM is who made the "fiberglas" (it's really just plastic) Mosport Green Corvette. I have one and they're actually a pretty nice item.

Perhaps, but...
if you read his description, he makes states the damage and never tries to pass the car off as in like new condition like some eBay sellers would. Plus he states he figures maybe someone can use it as a parts car. I think the seller is right is listing it under new since as he says it was never removed from the box or displayed, and the fact that although technically new, he never attempts to disguise the real condition.
