I received the DM 35 Ford yesterday...................
And I love the color. If we judge this model by the last standards as the 48 Chevrolet Fleetline outstanding rendering and details, the Ford is really basic and missing a few details compared to the 36 Coupe that is mostly the same shell.
The paint job is not flawless: orange peel is an issue on the fender sides and the hood side panels.
The brochure arrived in the mail in the same time as the model..... quite a coincidence.
Overall, it is the last one so, it may have been a challenge to maintain some kind of very high quality standards through the end and I believe it is a nice tribute.

The orange peel effect must be unit by unit. Mine has none.....
Heck, even 1:1's have it.......

I think mines ok I didnt notice any orange peel BUT as Jerry pointed out ...
The 1:1s had a subpar finish and weren't wetsanded, blocked and polished either. That said it makes it more realisic

I'm very happy to have one of the '35s but I was surprised (and a bit disappointed) that...........
they just used the '36 Ford fenders on the model. The '35 Fords used fenders that were a different shape.....sort of a cross between a '34 and a '36. Anyhow, I suppose budget restraints reared their head as the development went along.
As I said though, I'm still really happy to have the model.

I never would have noticed that slight difference....
.... well not so slight! The interesting thing is that the model, depicted as it is with '36 Ford front fenders, is actually MORE ATTRACTIVE to my eye, at least, than the 1:1 car. Thanks Cliff, for pointing it out!!
I must admit that wen I received my review sample, I was a bit underwhelmed... but the more i looked at it and examined it, the darn thing "grew" on me. The whole car is really a nicely done replica in the usual SM tradition.... and it looks great next to the '36 Coupe!

Received mine today and its flawless. Paint is smooth all around.

Just took mine out and gave it a thorough once over. The paint is flawless.

I understand what you mean...............
You will observe the 36 Coupe is overall a bit lower and the 35 higher at the back. This may help to compensate for the inaccuracy of the fender side valences.
