On request some pictures of the 1935 Hirohito Mercedes-Benz 770K green/black version made by Paul's Model Art. It arrived today without any extra damage. Had to replace the mascot by one of a red/black version and the left headlight is replaced by one with glass. I once saw a version boxed on Ebay with certificate of Limited Edition of 1000 pieces. I read somewhere on this forum that sadly 2 pcs were damaged beyond repair on transport, so 998 pcs are left? This one came from Loveland to the Netherlands in only 8 days and was fantasticly well packed by the seller πBottom reads PMA produced 1991. I lined it up with the red (maroon)/black PMA 1989 version and the red/black version made by Franklin mint. Don't know if the green version really existed. The red indeed did. So if anyone has more info about it, it's welcome π
thanks for the great comparison pics. There really is enough in the colour difference to warrant buying the green version to go with the red/maroon.
I was reading on the papers that came with the PMA red/maroon version that 3 770s were made for the Emperor. I assume at least the 2 different colours? Would love to find out more of the history of the cars.
Do you reckon there would probably less around now than 998 considering they were made in 1991? You have a real rare piece, well done!
Thank you Geoff. What would the third colour be? Yellow / black would be great like the 30s Bugatti π
I couldn't find any further info on the Hirohito cars. Only info i found was that several 770k's were made for some bad former European dictators.
About the total production numbers left i don't think there are many green coloured ones. Saw only one boxed piece last 3 years on Ebay. And Lu has one green coloured pictured in his Unique topic. π
