In 1957, Chrysler introduced the "Forward Look" in their body designs whereby the body would start low and gradually incline ending in sharp tail fins. The Chrysler 300C was the flagship of the line with its unique massive maw. What I loved about was its utter lack of of chrome trim having only a single side spear on the rear quarter panel that contained the "300 C" medallion. For 1957, Chrysler increased it Hemi V8 to 392 cid and it came in two forms, 375 HP (single 4bbl) and 390 HP (2X4bbl). I have a pair of DM's New Yorkers as well as the 300C and, for whatever reason, I wondered if DM made 2 different intake manifolds for the different carburation setups, and here's what I found. First the dual quad 300C:
and now the single quad in the New Yorker:
Note the flat plate with the rounded edges that covers the hole in the single quad manifold. Cute, ain't it? If it wasn't for macro photography, I never would have noticed. LOL. Here's some pics of this gorgeous 300C.
One of my faves, in white!
and mine too! I remember when I first discovered this site some 20 years ago this model was voted/featured as the model of the year. Also about the same time I spotted one early on a Sunday morning driving around the local streets of the suburb I was living in at the time. Got one pretty soon after and its always featured prominently since. Thanks Rich.
