I just adore this 1932 Auburn 8-100A Custom 8 Boattail Speedster. It was quite the high tech automobile with its normally aspirated 100 HP 268.6 cid Lycoming straight 8 that with its 3 speed transmission and a Columbia 2 speed rear axle offering 6 forward speeds. It had 4 wheel "Steeltronic" vacuum-assisted drum brakes, adjustable shocks controlled from the driver's seat and self lubricating chassis. The next gen in 1935 would have a supercharger. Unfortunately Auburn went bankrupt in 1936. In 1932, this car sold for $1295 at the highest trim level in the first half of 1932 and in the worst part of the Depression, the price was lowered in the second half to $975 which cut their cash flow that began their march to bankruptcy.

I sure miss our yearly limited edition club cars. The model recognizes this with an LECC Xll license plate and a beautifully embossed Diecast Car Collectors Club logo on the chassis.

Favorite model! Nice pictures. Missing the exhaust pipes?

+1 to above, have it love it! The club cars were indeed something to look forward to Rich. Thanks.

PS, a query. Why are the 'leather' spare straps situated between the tyre and the wheel rim?

@chav I believe only the supercharged cars had the external exhaust pipes.

Bob, I meant on the undercarriage, it's too much trouble to dig mine to take a picture, but here is a picture the master.

@bob-jackman Thanks Bob, so I assume on a 1:1 when u want to use the spare you would remove the mirror and then just pull the straps out from between the tyre and the wheel?

@perrone1 I see the locator holes for the exhaust pipe on the chassis. I don't remember if these pics are of the final sample or the production model. If it was of the handbuilt sample, I'm not surprised it's missing a part.
