The '56 DeSoto is a timeless beauty to my eyes.  Of the Big Three cars that year, I rate them on "looks and styling" in this order.   

GENERAL MOTORS 

1) Cadillac  2) Oldsmobile  3) Buick  4) Pontiac  5) Chevrolet 

FORD MOTOR COMPANY 

1) Lincoln  2) Ford  3) Mercury

CHRYSLER CORPORATION

1) DeSoto  2) Chrysler  3) Plymouth  4) Dodge
