In 1957, this Cadillac Series 62 Eldorado Brougham was one of only 400 handbuilt cars that came with every conceivable option. Expensive? At $13,800 they were $800 more than a Rolls Royce. With its brushed stainless steel roof, suicide doors, forged aluminum wheels, quad headlamps and special trim package, it was quite a visual stunner. Design your own? There were 44 different leather trim combinations. Powered by a 325 HP 365 cid V8, the 5315 lb behemoth could easily handle turnpike speeds but with a fuel consumption of 8.8 mpg. This Franklin Mint model in Lake Placid Blue is an older model with does suffer a bit from panel gaps and alignment and employs dog leg hinges throughout but still presents itself well. This model was re-released as a numbered LE of 2500.
Superb pictures and writeup as always Rich. I have this and the black model and they look great on display. I know that several people have said they had a problem with paint on the doors of the black one flaking off the chrome. I'm lucky I guess because that has not happened to mine.
@bob-jackman Yeah, that's why I didn't buy the black one where the paint over chrome failed. There was a similar problem with the Chrysler Airflow but I bought it and evidently lucked out.
I fortunately have both models, but as you say the black one has the paint issue.
