In these stressful times in our world, it's a good idea to surround yourself with happy images and thoughts.  And what image is more happy than thinking about the glee shared by The Seven Dwarfs?  The answer is...FORD'S late season offering in 1950 dubbed "The Crestliner".

Of course my first cup of coffee and some Carpenter's music sets my mood to relaxed too!  So you guessed it, this morning sitting in the "Car Room", this Crestliner with it's unique side moldings and matching top caught my eye.

Basically it was a variation of Ford's Tudor Sedan in the custom line, but it came with a vinyl roof, lavish interior, and a special side trim with the Crestliner nameplate mounted on the front fender.  The Crestliner was built only in to 1951, and then gone.  It weighed 3,050 pounds and sold for (in 1950) a whopping $1.779.  Under the hood, only a V-8 was offered and for 1950 only 17,601 were produced.  Oh and the reason for the Crestliner from Ford, was that the company was caught off guard with General Motors first time Hardtops, so Ford offered the spruced up sportier Sedan.

DANBURY MINT captured the 1950 FORD CRESTLINER to a tee with their replication in 1:24 scale.  In my life-time, I only recall seeing one Crestliner at a car show many years ago.  Seems they are as rare as any car can be.  With this beautiful model, I don't have to worry about every seeing a real one again.

Have a great Tuesday everyone!  Remember, attitudes are contagious, so always make YOURS worth catching.

Another great model George. All three colors of this one DM issued are special, it's very hard for me to which one I like best. It could be a slight edge to this Hawaiian Bronze.

I agree on your comment about them being rare these days, I too have only seen one at a car show a few years ago, it was red. So like you I have the models to always remind me of how nice they were.

Oh, I forgot. The sculpture of the Seven Dwarfs from Snow White, very nice. I like it.

A home run George! We share a fondness for the Carpenter's music. Karen's voice was pure IMO.

One other unique feature of the Crestliners were their distinctive wheel covers.

I agree with you on Karen Carpenter's voice, it was magic.  Another reason that the Carpenter's have always been special for me is that 1972 when their song "Top of the World" was on the charts, it was when I met my wife and we were dating.  That song always expressed my feeling of how I felt with her coming in to my life.  As I'd mentioned in another thread the other day, we just celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary a couple of weeks ago, and I'm still hearing that song in my head.  I've truly been blessed.

@jcarnutz, thanks!  I'd mentioned in a previous post in the Lounge that my wife collects Disney figurines.  I'm thinking I might incorporate some of them in to future car photos I take.  Smile
