Back in the dawn of time (1989) the infant Danbury Mint released this 1956 Ford Thunderbird with the removable hard top with the iconic porthole. DM was getting better and the Fiesta Red finish lacked the 'orange peel' of earlier models. The interior was a real standout despite the dog leg hinges and the enine bay. although lacking wiring, also revealed exceptional detail for the era.

it sure looks nice Rich and you’ve done a great job taking pics of it. I just can’t stop laughing at the thickness of that steering wheel.

me too! Somehow I wound up with 3 56 T'birds. I like FMs Russian Island version best. Thanks RichLove those birds including the salute.

@100ford2003 Steve, the Russian Island 1956 Ford Thunderbird by Franklin Mint is a limited edition model, of 1,000 units. Possibly as a retailer exclusive?
I've seen the color called Russian Yellow but I'm not sure if this color ever existed. Regardless is is very nice.
