My neighbor accross the street hit the USSBB.
I was backing up to park in front of my house and the lady across the street backed her big Chevy pickup into the back bumper of the U.S.S.B.B. Pushed the rear bumper about 2 inches to the left and dented the bumper. Fortunately, no sheet metal damage.

It's bound to happen sooner or later.........
I had my MKV restored over a 3 month period. I didn't have it on the road a week when I was driving home on a rainy night and the truck in front of me dropped a bunch of junked engine parts right in front of me.
Bang, bang, crunch, crunch....I gave up and sold it.

Sad to hear, you love your car so much.............
I am sure you will find a good Classic body shop in you erea to fix the damage.
If the bumper is not bent, the dent can be removed by a good quality plating shop. They can do miracles.
When I restored my 49 Riviera in the 90s, most of my stainless trim has been redone this way before plating and the job was simply awesome.

I know your pain. I had a similar thing happened to my old '73 mach 1 mustang...
I was at the bank and a crazy kid backed out of his parking spot without looking and ran into the rear bumper of my mustang. My car was parked, not even moving.
Only way to keep your car safe is to always keep it in the garage. I gave up on having a nice car and now I only have my daily driver which i dont care as much.

I had a young lady back into my '70 truck front bumper and she bent the left mounting bracket. No sheet metal damage either. She and her dad was good about it and paid out of pocket to repair the bracket and replace the bumper. I thought that the bumper was OK but he insisted on replacing it. I think he was being cautious and didn't want the incident to go on his daughters driving record(insurance). No matter how careful one is, sh** happens.....
