Correction from the last posting. On the new DM 1935 ford it reads "Danbury Mint Final 1:24 Scale Replica".The DM model of the car is 4420-0012.

I saw that too... DM has now clearly said Good Bye to diecasts.

We all knew that when they fired all their diecast people recently. Sad.

Patty is right! Do we need to get hit by a Truck? It was on the way!

This is truly sad news. Mine is scheduled to ship March 31.

Read it again ... it says this is their last BRAND NEW diecast ...

Leaves the door open for future repaints.

I read it twice trying to find a hint of hope, but its the end

It clearly says:

"Sadly, it's the end of an era and today we are officially announcing that the Limited Edition 1935 Ford Deluxe Coupe is our final brand-new 1:24 scale precision replica."

Its the end of collecting for me as well as I will definitely not buy resin especially at twice the price and less than half the features the most simple Danbury Mint diecast has.

Resin is about $300.

And this new diecast is $260 with shipping. Just ordered mine. Sad day.

I have been a collector since ordering my first diecast from DM (1935 Deusenberg SSJ) many years ago. Along the way the collection grew and grew, and came to include other company's efforts too, but my heart always belonged to DM.

I was fortunate enough to collaberate with them on the 1/24 scale gas pump project, so it is now only fitting that I order the last of the breed - also a car from 1935.

The clever, if perhaps disingenuous, wording does leave a glimmer of hope for repaints, as David has suggested but, of course, only the ones they still have the castings for or can somehow obtain.

It should be great to have those bookends...

I guess my point is that it's been a while since resin was "twice the price of diecast." Just a sad reality of our times.

How many 1/24 diecasts were issue and sold at the $200+ by DM? Just 3 up to date. It was all over many moons ago, but many of us thought and had great hopes DM would come back at any day... Even if $250 was always the issue price I still see DM diecasts a bargain compared to any static resin model at the same price. I have no doubts resin models will even sell for 4 times their issue price due to the lack of 1/24 detailed diecast model manufacturers. Its just what we were left with...

You're right, Eloy. Some will get out, some will buy fewer and, hopefully, some will consider other scales. It's a great hobby populated by some fine folks.
