When Simon & Garfunkel released that song in '73, I was learning my first Nikon. Didn't use much Kodachrome though, I employed the benefits of Fujifilm. Photos here are sensational!

@perrone1  Thank you Tony   I was four years out of high school, married and doing some sort of drudge work......it would be almost 47 years until I began buying some of the same Nikon gear that my mentor used.......and then began the long campaign of bugging you for details as to how to use it

Smile

I remember Kodachrome 64 and even Kodachrome 25. But the results were not as saturated as Fuji. Then many years later, about 1990 or so, they brought out the Fujifilm Velvia 50 and the whole world stood up to notice film at its brightest. I'm seeing much of those same resultant images with ISO 64 in digital form with the right lens, aperture and light compensation settings. Your shots here are exceptional!

Parched London based tourist Basil Bowler takes in the vibrant mobile pop stand run by off-season elf supervisor and divorcee Florence Fargo.  Craving his regular afternoon tea and with his mind still cloudy from being on Greenwich Mean Time, recent arrival Basil is on the fence about whether to sample the strange bubbly beverage  as an alternative.  After observing a financially embarrassed man introduce himself as Wimpy and score a bottle from Flo with a promise to pay on Tuesday, the normally prim and proper Basil tosses caution to the wind and decides to patronize the kindly proprietor.  Eyeing up the approaching well attired gentleman love starved Flo likes what she sees.  Explaining in a husky voice that she has a more special offering for him nearby, Flo takes the rather confused Englishman by the hand and leads him behind a small stand of bushes.  A few moments later Wimpy returns, hoping to score a second free beverage but finds the stand deserted.  Taking this to mean an open bar offering, Wimpy loads up his pockets, pops the top on another and makes haste; choosing to ignore the muffled shrieks and shocked exclamations heard nearby.

I hear everything you say in much the same way the peanuts gang hears their parents talking to them 🤔 ........all the factors exponentially mesh with the thousands of variable combinations ......your continued excitement over digital ISO 64 always seems to come through in plain English and gives me hope for a balanced exposured future.......for now,I get some sort of rarefyed light that has never been present in my photos before the new hardware

For the lighting you do SO well John, I can't help but think that the D850 would benefit greatly with the 'ISO Auto' setting. Especially, since you use aperture priority; it will match the shutter speed and analyze the ambient light for the right ISO. I think you're familiar with that setting but the front sub-command dial is used when you display ISO; one click and it reverts to ISO Auto.

@perrone1  ......thank you Tony.....I can certainly manage that 👍 ......does Nikon, set to ISO auto mode,  take into account, the light gathering capability of the mounted lens ?......will the camera choose the ISO differently if I switch lenses mid-session?

Last question for today Tony......I promise 😏

Yes; ISO auto will read and adjust to the light at the time of first exposure. It may be different if the light changes for a subsequent shot. And each lens will be read the same if set at the same aperture.

I see........your explanation, once stated, seems so obvious.....like a magician with a good trick, you make it look easy when it probably actually isn`t

THANK YOU
