No surprise but I received this today from DM

Dear Die-cast Collector:

I am writing with disappointing news about your membership in the Annual Limited Edition Hot Rod & Custom series.

The factory that produced our Hot Rod & Custom replicas recently closed. Our diligent efforts to re-open the factory and get these models back into production have proven unsuccessful. Therefore, we must regrettably discontinue this series.

Although we will not be able to produce the LE Hot Rod & Customs, we continue to work with other trusted suppliers and hope to bring you some great models in the future. Thank you for your patronage and continued support.

For the Danbury Mint,
Karen Ferraro

The key word here is .......

They "HOPE" to in the near future! With an open mind I will just sit back and stay optimistic, however I think that unfortunately the end of new precision 1:24 th models has come ๐Ÿ™ Part of me is sad, part of me is a little relieved! I am sure I am not alone, but I'm being honest. Financially and with room constraints at some point I would have had to STOP or sell off some to add others. On this level, its a help! And while there are MANY MANY more cars I would have loved in scale, I can sit back and be happy with my 250++ 1:24ths and various other scales/models. Not too shabby as they say ๐Ÿ˜‰

I got the same T-Bird card in the mail today. A sad day! DM is done, we've just not heard the fat lady sing yet.

Ron I hate to say it but you might as well say your waiting for the infamous ...

Cancellation card from DM. It seems its inevitable! I hope not and that we get this one, but it dosn't look to promising as recent times are suggesting. ๐Ÿ™

They might as well make an OFFICIAL announcement something to the tune of this .....

"Due to circumstances beyond our control and unforeseeable factory closings we regret to inform you that Danbury Mint will no longer be producing precision die-cast model cars. Perhaps in the future we may be able to work out some type of deal with a factory that's willing to take on the making of our models to the standard of which collectors have become accustomed to, but until that possible time comes no die-cast will be made or available". ETC.... This is the REALITY of a letter we all should be reading! Sad but true ๐Ÿ™

Ok Ron its not generalized but YOUR model is not going to be made!

Very disturbing news this is and i now feel confident that we can kiss 1:24th scale good bye as far as precision models in the $120-$160 range. If you like more prices "static" models then we might be seeing some more 1:24ths down the road but thats about it. And I seldom collect non precision models so thats hardly an option!
