Here is a beautiful 1956 Ford Thunderbird as done very nicely by MotorMax in 1/24 scale. The top on this one is removable.

I also have a currently-unbuilt Monogram diecast model kit of this automobile, too. It's a good-looking and classic car, so many companies in many scales have done this one.

I agree, it was made by FM, DM, Crown Premiums, Unique Replica's, Motormax and I believe Maisto made them as well.   I have built the Monogram kit.  It went together fairly well.

It is a great choice for a replica in any scale or medium and by anyone, that's for sure !

That is gorgeous, Mike. I have zero qualms about buying cheaper diecast. So many nicely done models out there at all price points. Some I buy and leave as is they're so nice. Others, I like taking them apart and detailing them. I also like finding damaged Mint models, or ones missing parts, for cheap on Ebay and repairing them. Either way, I'm having fun. 💯😊

Nice pictures Mike.  The 56 T-Bird seems to have been modelled more than any of the baby birds at least by the Mints.

Those are excellent points, Geno ! Just enjoying and having diecast/white metal/resin/styrene plastic/etc models and replicas is the main thing. All styles and scales and price points are completely valid and welcome on my view. As John K. says : "We should be enjoying ourselves!".

I haven't come across a 1955 T-bird yet .  This Superior is the only 1957 I have found.

add me to the chorus Geno, Mike. Price originally, and then scale after the mints end, do not restricted my model buying. Some of my original favorites are my Bburago and Maisto 1/24 Ferraris bought 20+ years ago. And Hachette et al have provided the opportunity to buy European and some U.S models at extreme value for money. And now here in Australia we have DDA producing quality 1/24 at a very reasonable price.

Those remarks are quite good ones, Geoff. It is really about liking and enjoying models of automobiles, in any scale or price/detail point. In my view, the hobby is about model cars and the collecting of them making you happy, not really about trying to validate one's self by trying to find supposed "errors" or "mistakes". The "perfect" replica has not yet been built ......and never will be. So, if it meets your own standards and criteria and it makes you happy, that's perfectly fine and it's "Mission Accomplished" ! Smile

I will want a particular car for its design value and cultural importance in any era - and if I can find the right colour at a low price, that'll be the best as there is always a buying list! Chunky wipers can be changed and overly bright gilles and hubs can be black-washed to bring-out detail. A few touches and an Hachette model will sit happily next to a Chromes, with each supporting the other in the overall story.

@grockwood DM made one version of the '57 before they quit. I passed as I didn't like the color. I may need to get one of these Superior models. It looks pretty accurate. Model Car Garage also makes a PE set for the '57 also. I'll just take it apart and super detail it.😁😊
