We've chronicled and discussed the brand many times here. The vaunted Yellow Camaro garnered a tremendous amount of attention. The D4C Club talked about my buying one such model at auction for $3401 and then selling it 2 years later for over $5200.
I became close friends with Roger Harney, the man behind the models. He entrusted me to sell his entire collection on the D4C auctions and the site buzzed like crazy selling all of them. He was a fantastic person and I still mourn his passing (2014).
One of the most unsung models in my collection is that of the Revell Creative Masters 1969 Ford GT 40 Coupe - #6. It was the car to win Le Mans that year, driven by Jacky Ickx and Jackie Oliver. The model was made in only 250 issues and the wooden base it sits on is hand signed by both drivers.
When Creative Masters first came out I was intriqued by their detail and quality but ended up selling them because they wouldn't fit into my 1/24 scale display cases. Oh well...a decision I have questioned many times over the years.
a treasure in your collection Tony...........thanks for sharing these stunning images
What a wonderful model with fantastic detail. I collect Le Mans cars, usually in 1/43 scale, and despite the larger size, Id love to have this one too. Thanks for sharing Tony.
$5200 for a yellow Camaro. Incredible!
I love all the CM releases. They were so ahead of their time. I solved the 1/20 display problem... I gave them their own shelf which also includes a Japanese factory built for display Toyota 2000GT which I guess was for a model kit.
