[Closed] REVIEWS? How many of you fellow collectors pay attention to them and how many of you

Mostly, I don't give any heed to reviews, but don't deny their value. Like, I wouldn't make any buying decisions on reviews or see or not see a play or movie or a music concert or a restaurant meal on a review. Many times reviews can be too subjective rather than objective. So I generally dive in anyway rather than my choices being determined by a review. Bearing in mind that the foolishness of one man can be a simple joy for another.

I enjoy reading others opinions but make my own decisions regarding purchases.

yep, I look up every car I buy.

I look up every car to see what features it has and to see better photos than most sellers provide. I have rejected one car completely because of review and actual paint issues pointed out in review.

I do often use reviews to base my price point on a car, which is generally cheaper than most of you anyway. I'm the one that buys mangy cars with no box and cleans them up for display. I have no cars stored in boxes in my collection. When I get to the point I have no more space, I'll sell something off.

I think I tried a review years ago and I never saw it. I would love to see more reviews in the car section, especially now that most of our beloved cars have been out of production for years. Updates would be nice to see, even if folded into the original review.

Would be nice to have a First Gear, Crown Premium, and Icons section as well.

I enjoy reading them.

It's nice to find out what others think.

Phil, your experience would seem to be isolated, as I've reviewed the vast majority of the cars

I've bought and own, and I've never seen any of them disappear. I'd be curious to know if there are other collectors who have had a review vanish.

And just asking Phil, but is it possible that you didn't hit the "post" button when done writing a review? I ask because when a review is done, the first button to click on is "Preview Message". When you've done that, then there are two buttons for choices to "click" on. One is "Post Message" and the other is "Edit Message" review. So before you actually "Post" your review, you have a chance to "Edit" it.

If you don't one of those two choices, you are able to move on to other pages or Forums and then YOUR review would not be posted.

If that is not the scenario in your case, then I'm not sure what took place. I just know I've never lost any of my reviews that I've done.

Same as you, Bob. Some reviewers don't review the car for what it is or what was intended. If it's not "their cup of tea", they slam it and give it a poor rating which ends up being not fair for others who are looking to buy. As Bruce states above, some reviewers are way too subjective.

I've reviewed plenty of cars on this site, and always have been very fair in my comments. And, if I don't have the model or aren't particularly fond of the model, I just don't review it. Again, being sensitive to other opinions.

In the end, I buy what tickles my fancy.

We used to eat bacon and egg pie - now they call that quiche. Spare me please.

I've done that many times on forums, George when I don't push post message after the preview message button.
I see this minor SNAFU as a good thing because it allows for some breathing space to reconsider the worth of what I've written, especially if curse words have slipped into the prose.
