This 1926 Mercedes Benz Model K 24/100/160 dual cowl phaeton marked the official melding of Daimler and Benz & Cie. The Model K (for Kurz or short) chassis and supercharged 6.2 liter inline 6 drivetrain produced from '26 to '27 was a dual purpose platform for both racing and speedy luxury cars. Its 160 hp offered both race winners and high speed touring. This phaeton with both split windscreens and radiator and humped back tail was an early nod to cutting back on wind resistance.
This older Franklin Mint model still sported a 2D dash applique, plastic wire wheels, dog leg hinges and a simplified engine bay. What was a surprise at the time was the photoetched star hood ornament and the leather upholster with patterned brocade inserts and door storage pouches. Finished in a royal blue, the model still has good shelf appeal.
Old style build but extremely pretty. Would look great on any shelf.
love that, have had it for ages. Clearly remember getting the FM brochure when they were operating in Australia, 1991,92 maybe? Great pics as always thanks Rich
@geoff-jowett What Geoff said and as Rich points out, still has great shelf appeal.
