@perrone1 I always liked that bodystyle Vega, before they put the battering ram bumpers on them. My Uncle A.C. had a '72 that the 4 pot bit the dust, he dropped a built 283 down in it. Plus a few other mods, man, it was a little hellion.👹

Geno, thanks for the reminder - D'OH! Brain hiccup on my part. I unearthed the photo, above, saw the date and incorrectly recalled it as a 74. It was, in fact, a new 1972. When the pic was taken it was 2 years later. D'OH!
@perrone1 A good friend of mine and his father both bought new Vegas in 1971. His was the GT and dad's was the tamer one in the pic below; both cars were this green color. The GT had the bold white striping which looked really attractive. Sadly both cars were garbage and my friend said both cars went back to the dealer for warranty work repeatedly. Both were traded in within the same year and as a result his Dad had Toyotas only for the rest of his life; which echos the many comments made on this site about how North American car makers dropped the ball big time in the 1970s....never to regain their domestic standing.

How about THAT! We were lucky that the car gave us good service with no problems at all. We traded it for a new '75 Monte Carlo that replaced my wife's Vega and my daughter christened it, "The Mommy Carlo".
@jack-dodds that's the exact color my Uncle A.C.'s was. It sure did scoot with that 283 in it. I enjoyed riding in it when I was a kid. An old lady pulled out from a stop sign and he didn't have time to avoid her, hence the Vega got totalled.😥
@geno You probably recall the 350 Chevy drive train and suspension upgrade kits for the Vega that were sold in the early 80s (as I recall). They were popular in my area back then but of course very few survived getting wiped out. They were pretty cool when done properly and tastefully.
I bought a used 1976 Pontiac Astre GT I thought it was nicer looking than Vega. Had a Firebird look to it. I put a sun roof on it and louvers on the side windows. Painted the back panel flat black and out lined the back in yellow. Mounted 60 series tires and after these pictures were taken moumted 4 spoke chrome wheels on it. It wasn,t fast, but it sure cornered well.
