To me, the best of all the Buick Riviera was the 1965 Riviera Gran Sport. This high performance personal luxury grand touring car was never matched by its subsequent generations. Powered by the 425 cid Super Wildcat "nailhead" V8 that, with 2X4 bbl carbs was rated at 360 HP (with 4 passengers in the car!?), it reached 0-60 in 7 seconds flat with a top speed of 130 mph. So, its horsepower would seem a bit underrated. With the optional heavy duty suspension, it had both high speed handling as well as a boulevard ride. James Dalton knew what he was doing picking this '65 over his cute little, ill-fated Mercedes in "Road House".
great car and model, mine is the Astro Blue version. Amazing closeups Rich
@geoff-jowett Geoff I also have it in blue. A beautiful work of art from Automodello.
@rich-sufficool I totally agree with Rich, one of the classiest’60’s classics! The replicas are beautiful, I don’t currently have any diecasts of it because I have arbitrarily limited myself to pre 1960, but I have vivid memories of building an AMT 1/25 as a teen and admiring the fantastic lines of the vehicle!
Those cars are absolutely legendary. Beautiful from ever angle. I wish they were in my price range.😟
Excellent photos of this model, I'm going to be in the minority as I never cared for it. I have the blue one and to my eyes, it just doesn't look right. It never has from the day I received it. I've taken it out for a couple of photoshoots, never cared for those either. It always goes back in the box; it's never been displayed.
