THIS is a truck! In 1946 Dodge did not waste a lot of time and money retooling their military WC 4X4 truck for the civilian market. This first generation or "flat fender" model gave people their first real introduction to a 4 wheel drive heavy duty workhorse equipped with a 2 speed low transfer case that offered a power take-off Bush winch. They kept the 230 cid flathead 6 cylinder mated to a 4 speed transmission along with the huge (for the time) wheels and knobby tires gave the truck powerful off road performance. This Power Wagon, in original condition is almost impossible to find, as back in the day, a truck was a vehicle that you just drove into the ground and certainly couldn't predict a collector market 75 years in the future. I'm glad DM offered this truck in army olive drab. It reminds me of the trucks I used to drive back in Thailand during the war. It definitely intimidated the local population.

Rich,  Great shots.  One of my favorite trucks.  I missed the red one though.

@rich-sufficool  Rich you would not believe it.  I knew I had an Ertl red Power Wagon, but then I went and looked again in my DM cabinets and low and behold, I have the red one and the Blue Tow Truck.  Completely forgot about them.  I'm a lucky guy.

@carsman1958 I believe it and I get it. At this stage, I don't even know what I have anymore. My collection overwhelmed me years ago... it's a disaster!

Rich I'm glad to hear you say that and that I'm not the only one who's collection is totally out of control.

@bob-jackman Bob with your collection, I do not know how you keep up with all of them.  I probably have 1/3 the cars you have based on past information you have given.  I should have just looked in my cabinet before I wrote Rich and would have seen all 3 of them.  But off the top of my head, I knew that I had the green one.

John I have to admit that I am not as sharp as I used to be in keeping my collection in my head. I blame it on numbers...too many models and too many years. I find myself going to my display cases frequently to check on certain models more than I used to.

all good fun though!!!

When I unpacked all my models a few months back I found 3 doubles, and another 3-4 I didnt know I had! All my showcases and display cases are now full along with the spots around the house where I can use models as decorator items. I have another showcase on order, and once that fills, I dunno, the fridge? bath? maybe I'll have to carry them around with me!

Geoff, I know the feeling and suspect that others here do also.

@bob-jackman Mine is an absolute embarrassment. I used to enjoy bringing friends down to see the displays. Now, if I have something I think a friend would want to see, I bring the model to them. I've got so many models I want to display but can't find the room for and sooner or later, I don't even know where they are anymore. Years ago, I made a deal with a (much younger) friend of mine that when I die, if he can curate this mess and mate packaging with models, he can sell it off and split the money with my wife. I wish him luck... he has no idea what he'd be in for. LOL

All of my cars are on display but they are not in chronological order, only by scale. I don't even put them by make except my 1/24 Corvettes which turned out to be a pain when I received the 52 concept Vette and I had to move 250 plus cars to put it its place. A number of car clubs, both local and national have toured my collection over the years so I keep the displays and cabinets clean. What's an embarrassment is the boxes which are stacked up in my garage...there are so many that they take up enough space where another 1/1 car could occupy. A few years ago during a tour, a lady who my wife and I know was with her husband and coming up the driveway. This lady is one who has had a professional decorator do her home so I was quite sure she wouldn't understand a house full of my model cars and my wife's miniatures so I met her outside  to warn her what she was about to see. I told her that a magazine wanted to do an article on our house to which she asked "Southern Living?"...she was speechless when I replied Motor Trend.

Geoff;   I understand you.  I recently did a stock inventory and found, very much  to my surprise, that I had three CTCS BRK 1951 Ford taxis.

ALWAYS loved this style truck (and I'm not a truck guy, but every now & then.....)

Some of you may know about this story, if not, then you're in for a treat. About 2 minutes in is where the fun begins but it's worth watching the entire piece (about 6 minutes).
