Chevy's top of the line Kingwood Estate Wagon for 1969 offered 9 passenger luxury and power. With the optional 390 HP 427 Turbo-Jet L36 V8, you didn't get a drag car, but with 460 lb/ft of torque, you could tow a 747 (between gas stations). The era of full size luxury estate wagons have gone the way of the Dodo, replaced by the ubiquitous SUV. This fully optioned Chevy wagon represents just how far the concept could be carried.

I just loved these wagons; especially the GMs and the Mercury Colony Park.  I drove a silver '85 Caprice "woody" wagon for a time many years ago and really enjoyed it.

What a stunning model Rich, I always enjoy your posts. I too loved the big GM wagons of this era. For me, especially the Pontiacs.😊

have the yellow one, great model, but once again I experience the frustration of not being able to fully see the interior.

I loved wagons too but in '85 the GM wagons, at least to me, with their prominent bumpers and front end design all looked the same 👎

Gimme some wagons from the '60s-'70s.

My wife had one of these. Great with a load of kids and for camping. Horrible mileage in winter though…. 1 and 1/2 mpg at one point. She followed it up with a 1972 Chevrolet Kingswood Estate wagon and then a 1976 Chevrolet Caprice Estate with a 454. She moved to Astro vans after that. I preferred the wagons but stick to smaller stuff myself.

Do you have one favorite ? I loved our '63 Country Squire in Vintage Burgandy. I love the '67 & '68 CS and Caprice too. I guess I just wasn't much of a Mopar fan at the time even though they had some beautiful wagons too. My first car was a 61 country sedan that I got for $200 when I was in high school. I spent a lot of time under it fixing things and the same with the motor. But I treasure those days because that's how I taught myself to work on cars. Steve

@100ford2003 From the 50s my fave woody is the '56 Ford Country Squire.  From the 60s my faves are the '65/'66 and '69 Ford CS and '60/61 and '69 Mercury Colony Park.

@jack-dodds Ford wagons of the 50s and 60s were some of the best looking wagons of all time, IMO.

@whodeytink I agree Mark and they came in awesome colors as well.  Here is an example of one very unusual but attractive Ford Country Squire wagon just released in 1/43 by Goldvarg Models.  I just had to have it!

@jack-dodds I too have the Rose colored on the way. Lori and I have owned four station wagons over the years and I buy every station wagon model that comes out in miniature.
