I picked this model up dirt cheap on Ebay. It was all there, just really dirty and needed a good cleaning. I originally wanted a hardtop to complete my red/white tri-five trifecta. I kept getting beat out, so I just got the convertible, then converted it to the hardtop. First thing to go after I disassembled the car had to be the buttwart, lol. I cut the bumper into 3 pieces, grafted the upscale end caps onto a 1/24 Monogram kit '55 rear bumper center section. Then sent it out for chrome plating. Hollis was a Godsend and key factor into helping this work. Again, thank you Hollis. It's amazing the friendship, comradery and help you get from fellow collectors. He sent me the top from an FM '55 fire chief model. I removed the rear side windows, then I filled the hole where the beacon had been located, I then sanded, painted, and polished the top. Drilled the hole in the fender and added a radio antenna. Cleaned everything up while it was apart. Reassembled the model, added photo etched emblems, cleared over those, polished the whole car, added the license plate bracket and license plate to the trunklid, then into the display it went. Thanks for checking it out guys. I truly do appreciate your interest.😊

@georgeschire George you are entitled to your opinion regarding continental kits but how many times do we need to hear it?

I'm sorry Mr. Jackman. I'll make note to not comment on continental kits in the future. Please accept my apologies.

OMG! that is incredible! Just the paint job alone! And love the 3 pic at the end, they really work so well together. Masterpiece Geno!
@carsman1958 John, don't sell yourself short. If I can do it, anybody can, lol. I just plan my project out the best I can, gather parts I need, then dive in head first. The worst I can do is screw it up and it becomes a parts car. After I removed the connie kit on the DM '58 Bonneville convertible, I was hooked. I figured since I didn't screw that up, I could work on any of them. It's just kinda second nature now. I should have experimented with a cheaper model first, but it all worked out. Give it a shot. You build kits, its kind of the same, just diecast. Just start with a cheapie, take it apart and do some mods. I've used spare model parts to mod some of mine.💯😁
