Crossover Monday! Today we have a 2016 Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC) Trumpchi GS4. The actual car has a 1.5L turbo I4. Transmission options include a six-speed manual box or a 7-speed automatic box. The model is nicely done, especially the interior. All badges are photo-etched, the hood, trunk, and all four doors are functional, and the front wheels are steerable.
GAC Dodge Wednesday! Today we have a 2020 GAC Trumpchi GS5. It is similar to the GS4, but slightly larger. This vehicle will arrive in Mexican Dodge showrooms next month and will wear the Dodge Journey badge. Unlike the model here, the Dodge version will have a different front grille design and taillights.
Custom Thursday! Here we have a 1948 Boyd Coddington Cadillac Eldorado Custom Convertible from Franklin Mint. All the purists and Concours judges, hold your horses 😊 I always liked the wheels on this car. With a skinny A-pillar and the absence of any roll bar, I need to find an action figure with a flexible neck and a hard head to drive this beast.  Â
really rare one! thanks Lu
Experimental Friday! Today we have a proto-type 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle from Franklin Mint. This is a zinc-aluminum diecast, but it was put together to imitate a pewter car. FM provided us with a 1/24 pewter Corvette. I would call it an acquired taste. Would you have bought the pewter Chevelle if FM made it?Â
Nope, the more realistic my models the better.
Lu, I probably would have bought the model in pewter as I have the Corvette.
Square Saturday! Here we have a Franklin Mint 1961 Lincoln Continental Convertible in Sultana White. It is one of FM’s earliest limited edition cars. Other than the color, it is identical to the initial black issue. The black car in the last photo was reworked by a well-known builder. The Lincoln emblem is photo-etched.
they're great models, I have the maroon version
I have the maroon, turquoise, white and black versions. I was given the white one about ten years ago by a friend who's brother had passed away. He asked me to organize the collection which were mostly white metal models in 1/43 scale. I told him that the white one was rather pricey and he said that didn't matter because of the work I did for him and the fact that this was the only non 1/43 scale car in the collection.
